Successful Student GP Essays #1 – Environment

The Essay Question:

How far is modern consumerism a threat to the environment?

Over the years, our A Level General Paper course has helped many JC students ace the subject. We thought we’d do a series of posts sharing a few samples of student essays that obtained good scores under exam conditions.

A good essay combines many key elements including question analysis and scoping, great content and examples, acknowledging and tackling counterarguments, and good use of language.

See if you can spot these elements in action in the sample model essay below (which was written for a school prelim exam) and think about how it could be improved.
